Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew has issued a stern warning to officers who have failed to uphold the law, stating that they have no place in the Fiji Police Force.

He emphasised this while responding to questions raised by fijivillage News about his earlier statement, in which he said that the Force is not corrupted, but the actions of corrupt officers have tarnished its image.

While presenting his statement during the Divisional Medal Ceremony held at the Police Academy, he further said that he had received messages from people praising the work of the Force.

He says these commendations are a few compared to the damage caused when an officer is charged and brought to court.

Chew says they are in the process of reviewing certain internal policies, particularly on drugs and they have a zero tolerance on officers involved in drugs or colluding with those in the illicit drugs.

The Acting Commissioner says they have processes and systems in place to deal with officers who are working against their code of conduct and ethics.

He stated that he accepts criticism with an open mind, believing that police officers can change, and he encouraged them to continue their good work amidst the rapidly evolving criminal landscape. Chew warned officers and urged them that those who violate their code of conduct will face consequences, including the impact on their families.

He added that the Force is currently reviewing internal policies, particularly regarding drugs, and has a zero-tolerance policy for any officers involved in or colluding with the illicit drug trade.

Chew stated that offenders will be dealt with through the Internal Affairs and CID.
