A lot of people in Fiji have a xenophobic approach to getting expatriates.

This is according to the Acting Prime Minister and the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum who was doing a pre-budget session at the Fiji Institute of Accountants 50th Anniversary.

Sayed-Khaiyum also says he has personally spoken to some of the chefs in the hotels who have told him that some of the juniors are leaving as places like Australia are offering salaries of up to AUD$120,000.

Sayed-Khaiyum says what it will mean for us, we still want the tourism sector to grow.

The Acting PM says the hotels will now have to replace those locals who are gone with expatriates.

He also referred to the CEO of FRCS, Mark Dixon as probably the best CEO they have had.
