4 out of 5 children in Fiji suffer from dental cavities or oral diseases - Devi

Concerns continue to be raised on the oral health of our children as four out of five children in Fiji suffer from dental cavities or oral diseases.

This has been revealed by the Colgate Palmolive Marketing Manager Jyotika Devi during the 17th National Tooth Brushing Day—an annual initiative held at Nehru Memorial Primary School.

Nehru Memorial Primary School students gathered in numbers to mark the annual initiative aimed at promoting oral health awareness among children.

Devi says the celebration is led by Colgate Palmolive in partnership with the Ministries of Education and Health that focuses on addressing oral health.

She urges communities and village leaders to advocate for oral health.

When asked by fijivillage News on where they will hold their campaigns, she says the campaign extends beyond the classroom, and in August, they will travel across Viti Levu and the outer islands, distributing free toothbrush and toothpaste to communities.

She adds that they have visited villages in Kadavu, with an upcoming plan for Lau, Rotuma, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and various towns in the Central Division.
