Grammar in 2nd place in the Boys tally and ACS in 2nd place in the Girls Division

Defending boys champions of the Coca Cola Games, Marist Brothers High School lead the medal tally with 8 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals this hour.

Suva Grammar School is in second place with 6 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze. Ratu Kadavulevu School is in third place with 5 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.

Defending champion, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School is leading the girls division with 13 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze.

Adi Cakobau School is in second place with 5 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze.

Ratu Sukuna Memorial School is in third place with 4 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze.

The 200 metres finals start this hour.

The 4x400 metres relay finals start at about 1.40pm.

Va’akacegu Rekisa of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School has won gold in the Junior Girls’ Shot Put with a throw of 11.11 metres.

Ilisapeci Suguturaga of Ratu Sukuna Memorial School claimed silver with a throw of 10.50 metres, while Tanesa Areki of MGM took bronze with a throw of 10.37 metres.



Nataci wins Sub Junior Long Jump gold for Jasper in her Coke Games debut

Jasper Williams High School’s Patricia Nataci has won gold in the Sub Junior Girls Long Jump at the Coca-Cola Games with a jump of 4.93 metres.

Nataci says this is her first time to take part in the Games and she has thanked her parents, who unfortunately did not witness her win today.

She says she used to wake up at 4am and trained until 9am.

Nataci has dedicated her win to her coach.

Adi Maca Latu of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School took the silver medal with a jump of 4.90 metres, while her schoolmate Ema Grace settled for bronze after jumping 4.80 metres.



Ballantine's Maramamaivei wins gold in Senior Girls Shot Put

Karolina Maramamaivei of Ballantine Memorial School in Delainavesi has won gold in the Senior Girls Shot Put with a throw of 11.84 metres.

Akosita Poulter of Tailevu North College took the silver medal with the throw of 11.39 metres, while Aseri Tobua of Adi Cakobau School claimed bronze with a throw of 11.02 metres.

Farhan Ali wins gold for Grammar in Senior Boys Discus event

Suva Grammar School’s Farhan Ali has won gold in the Senior Boys’ Discus event with a throw of 45.78 metres at this year’s Coca-Cola Games. Grammar scooped all the medals in the event.

Tomasi Lovo claimed silver with a throw of 45.50 metres, while Glen Finau secured bronze with a throw of 44.90 metres.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Ali says he was not expecting to win any medals in the event and simply wanted to participate and give his best — making the victory a welcome surprise.

He says preparing for the games was challenging, with he and his teammates undergoing morning, afternoon, and night training sessions.

Ali says he worked hard to balance both his studies and his training, aiming to give his best in academics as well as in sport.

He says he would like to dedicate his win to his parents, his younger sister, and his teammates, who have supported him throughout the competition.

Ali also says that he hopes to give his best in the upcoming Mini Games. Priya/Iliana

Kulavia wins javelin gold for MGM, proud of getting sponsored

Savaira Kulavia of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School has added another gold to their 2025 Coca-Cola Games medal tally after winning the Sub Junior Girls Javelin event this morning.

She had a throw of 36.45 metres.

14-year-old Kulavia says she attended Vunisalusalu Central School in Savusavu last year and is proud of the fact that MGM sponsored her to attend school in Suva.

She has dedicated her win to her family, Vuinadi Village in Koroalau, Savusavu for praying for her and assisting her.

Kulavia says she is proud of her achievement and has thanked God for enabling her and her coaches for their guidance.

Pelenaisi Kotoiwasawasa from Levuka Public with a throw of 34.79 metres won silver while Sainiana Ralulu from Ballantine Memorial School had to settle for bronze after a throw of 28.99 metres.

Jivesh Lal of Tabia Sanatan College wins 200m heat barefoot

In an impressive display of determination, Jivesh Lal of Tabia Sanatan College has won Heat 2 of the 200 metres Sub Junior Boys event — and did so without wearing shoes.

Speaking to fijivillage News, the 15-year-old from Tabia, Labasa, says he also took part in the 100 metres Sub Junior Boys event but was not satisfied with his performance, so he decided to give his all in the 200 metres.

Lal says his coaches encouraged him to run barefoot after discovering he was comfortable doing so.

He says preparing for the competition was challenging, as he had to wake up early for morning training and stay up late to keep up with his schoolwork.

Lal said he wishes to dedicate his win to his school, coaches, family, and the many supporters from Labasa.



Sera Nasilivata of MGM receives $500 after breaking 32-year-old record

Former Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School senior girls 100 metres double champion, Kesaia Boletakanakadavu presented $500 from Government MP, Lynda Tabuya to 15-year-old Sera Nasilivata of MGM, who broke the 32-year-old junior girls 100 metres record.

Nasilivata clocked 12.30 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 12.34 seconds set in 1993.

Lynda Tabuya highlighted that with the support and encouragement of the MGM principal and teachers, the ceremony underscored the importance of mentorship and community in athletics, helping to inspire the next generation of Fijian sprinters.

Merekeleni Ratubaka (MGM) and Serevi Tova (Nakasi) shine bright with gold in the Open Grade long-distance race

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School’s Merekeleni Ratubaka has made it a double after winning the 3,000 metres Open Girls event this morning.

Ratubaka also secured gold in the 1,500 metres event on Thursday evening.

She hails from Rabulu Village in Ra.

At just 14 years old, Ratubaka says winning gold in an open-grade event is a major achievement for her.

She adds regular road runs were helpful in her preparation for the Coca-Cola Games.

The 14-year-old also acknowledged the support of her parents and coaches for believing in her throughout the competition.

Wainimala Secondary’s Melita Marama got the silver while Thomas Baker Secondary School’s Luisa Neneyawa is taking the bronze medal to Navosa.

Serevi Tova of Nakasi High School has won gold in the Open Grade Boys 3,000 metres at the Coca-Cola Games.

Tova says this is his second year competing in the 3,000 metres.

He says last year he finished fourth, but he never lost hope, as he worked hard to win gold this year in the same event.

Tova hails from Waikete Village in Tailevu.

He also acknowledged his parents and teachers endless support throughout his preparation.

Tova also dedicated his win to his younger sister.

Namokoli Savenaca of Natabua High took the silver medal while Levuka Public School’s Waisea Volavola got the bronze.
