2 more gold for Team Fiji

Team Fiji bagged two more gold medals at the Pacific games last night extending their medal tally to 13 gold, 15 silver and 22 bronze medals.

However Fiji remains on the third spot behind New Caledonia and Tahiti.

Fiji women’s 7s rugby team beat Samoa in the final 41-7 to win gold while Adi Drodrolagi won the 61kg event in Karate.

But the Fiji men’s 7s rugby team could not defend their gold medal after the team was beaten by Samoa 21-19 in the final.

Meanwhile, the Fiji cricket team had to settle for silver medal as Papua New Guinea beat Fiji by 83 runs.

So far all of Fiji’s 13 gold medals have come from Karate and shooting.

In today’s competition, the Fiji soccer team is up against Cook Islands at 4pm and a win will secure their place in the semi-finals.

Looking at the medal tally New Caledonia still maintains first spot with 49 gold, 41 silver and 15 bronze while Tahiti is second with 21 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze.
