16 Commissioner of Oaths were sworn in today by the Chief Justice Anthony Gates before their families and friends and invited guests.
Chief Justice Gates said as Commissioner for Oaths, it is a point of service and this is not done for prestige or standing in the community.
He said today’s ceremony demonstrates the judiciary’s recognition of the valuable tasks they perform for the public, and the importance of their role in the justice system.
Justice Gates reminded them that it must be approached only as a piece of unselfish service and there is no pay or remuneration for their work.
He told them if they do their work well, obligingly and in a caring manner, the community generally will respect them.
He bid them well to do their best and try not to keep them waiting.
New appointments now are made for a term of three years and are renewable.
