100 children living with RHD to be gifted school stationery through Damodar Cinemas Foundation

100 children living with Rheumatic Heart Disease and are being cared for by Heart Heroes will be assisted with school stationery through the donation of Damodar Cinemas Foundation.

Heart Heroes Manager Erini Tokarua says most of the recipients are mainly from the north because they have seen that they needed it more compared to those living here in Suva and the West.

She says this will be helpful to parents who have difficulties in sending their children to health centres every month for injections and clinics.

Tokarua says suffering from Rheumatic Heart Disease is not easy as there are so many things that are required to look after a child suffering from this disease.

She says 4,000 children in Fiji suffering from RHD are registered with them, and this assistance will help 100 children throughout the north, Lautoka and Suva.

She says they would like to expand the assistance but cannot assist all the children.

Damodar Cinemas Foundation CEO Div Damodar says over the years, RHD has been a serious problem in Fiji because around 60 Fijians die every year.

Damodar says they have taken the initiative to help the children in the way they help other organizations and are calling on organisations to come on board to help them create awareness and help the heart heroes.

He is also urging the general public to help as there will be a list posted on their social media page of what people can buy for the Student Heart Heroes as it would cost a basic amount of $100.
