The Walk On Walk Strong Fiji team is inviting people to come and support them as they hold their annual 3km Fun Walk and Zumba with Josh tomorrow at Albert Park.

WOWS Kids Fiji Operations Manager, Mere Williams says in Fiji, August is recognized as National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, rather than September (which is the global observance) due to its significance as the anniversary of Tae Kami's passing, the young girl who inspired the creation of WOWS Kids Fiji.

Williams says people’s participation tomorrow will really help in terms of raising awareness about childhood cancer in Fiji.

CWM Hospital Pediatric Oncology Registrar, Doctor Raynold Waisale says they will be creating awareness on some of the early signs that people can use to pick up for childhood cancer.

Waisale says this includes unexplained weight loss, persistent fever, persistent headaches with vomiting, particularly in the morning, lumps and bumps, particularly in the neck and the abdomen, easy bruising and easy bleeding, lethargic and so forth.

Williams says they will have various stations where people can register and they also have gold ribbons, and button badges for all the little children that will turn up as well as free face painting for the children.

She says it is going to be a fun time for everyone, and they hope that people turn up in numbers to support the worthy cause from 6am tomorrow at Albert Park in Suva.
