The TISI Sangam election did not go ahead as scheduled today at Sangam College in Nadi, with National President Parveen Bala confirming that an Interim Committee has been nominated to oversee the organisation’s affairs for now.
Bala and fellow presidential candidate Damend Gounder have nominated the Interim Committee, and a Council of Management meeting will be held soon to provide further direction.
When questioned about the commotion during the election and Annual General Meeting, Bala told fijivillage News that heated arguments can be expected during a large gathering, but everything was under control.

Some of the members publicly said they want the elections to go ahead.
Following a closed-door meeting, Bala and Gounder agreed to serve as co-chairs of the Interim Committee, with each expected to appoint seven members as interim executives.
The other presidential candidate, Dorsami Naidu, will also be included in the Interim Committee.
Earlier today, TISI Sangam members had been pushing for the elections to proceed as scheduled and not be delayed.
