After 16 years Spain are back in the FIFA World Cup final after defeating France 2-0 in the first semi-final.

Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute before Pedro Porro doubled Spain’s lead in the 58th minute, with Dani Olmo providing the assist.

Spain was leading by 1-0 at halftime.

French fans were left heartbroken as their team's hopes of reaching the World Cup final came to an end.

Spain will face the winner of the second semi-final between England and Argentina, which kicks off at 7am tomorrow, while France will play in the third-place play-off.

The third-place play-off will be played at 9am on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the FIFA World Cup final will be played at 7am on Monday.
