The Fiji U-16 side is just one win away from securing a place at a third consecutive FIFA U-17 World Cup as it takes on the Solomon Islands in the semi-final of the OFC U-16 Men's Championship in Papua New Guinea in the next hour.
A victory will not only book Fiji a place in the tournament final but also secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA U-17 World Cup, continuing the Junior Bula Boys' remarkable run on the world stage.
Fiji made its FIFA U-17 World Cup debut last year before qualifying again for this year's tournament, and a victory over the Solomon Islands would secure the Junior Bula Boys a place at a third consecutive FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Fiji Football Association Vice-President and Head of Delegation, Ritesh Pratap says the players understand the significance of the occasion.
He says the players have worked incredibly hard to reach this stage, and everyone involved with the team is proud of what they have achieved so far.
He is urging all Fijians to continue supporting and praying for the team as they take on the Solomon Islands in this crucial semi-final.
Fiji heads into the semi-final having scored 10 goals without conceding any.
The Junior Bula Boys beat New Caledonia 2–1, thrashed Samoa 5–0 and defeated Papua New Guinea 3–0 in their final pool match to top the standings.
Fiji will play the Solomon Islands in the semi-final at the PNG Football Stadium at 6pm, while New Zealand will face Papua New Guinea in the other semi-final at 9.30pm.
The final will be played at 9.30pm this Saturday.
