Kelepi Taqa, a youth representative from Narikoso Village in Ono, Kadavu, expressed his gratitude and emotion after receiving assistance from the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the form of seven 44-litre drums of fuel for the village’s outboard motors.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Taqa says the recent increase in fuel prices has placed a significant burden on the people of Narikoso, whose primary mode of transportation is by boat.
He explained that a trip to Kavala Port, which previously cost around $50, now costs more than $100 due to rising fuel expenses.
Taqa noted that the government’s assistance has provided much-needed relief, helping the community maintain access to essential supplies and ensuring that children can continue travelling to school.
20 recipients today received assistance from the Ministry of Youth and Sports valued at $40,000.
Minister Jese Saukuru says the Ministry is elated to help small business owners to get this assistance and reminded them to help move to promote economic sustainabilty.
