Fiji Roads Authority’s engineering contractors MWH, now part of Stantec, is yet to comment on their next step after the deportation of two managers of MWH last week.

FRA has been in talks with MWH regarding issues surrounding the fees being paid to MWH.

When questioned by Fijivillage, the Fiji Roads Authority states that it has a responsibility to the people and Government of Fiji to ensure that services sought and supplied by any consultant or contractor are rendered efficiently, effectively, in accordance with the law and provide value for money.

The Fiji Roads Authority confirmed to Fijivillage that Professional Engineering Services Advisors to the Authority, MWH Global’s contract with the FRA expires on the 31st of December this year and FRA does not discuss contractual or commercial matters with anyone other than the affected parties.

When asked about the dispute on the fees charged by MWH, the company’s media spokesperson says that MWH, now part of Stantec, is currently working with the Fiji Roads Authority to deliver a road network that connects people and places.

The spokesperson says they acknowledge there are some current issues around payment but maintain regular contact with FRA and remain hopeful that these will be resolved soon.

MWH says it is proud of its work to assist the FRA achieve their goals.

MWH was awarded the road management contract by FRA in 2012.
