McCutcheon sets personal best at Commonwealth Games, advances to semis

16-year-old Anahira McCutcheon clocked a personal best to finish fourth in the women's 50-metre butterfly heats last night at the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

She recorded a time of 27.09 seconds to qualify for the semi-finals at 9.30pm.

Meanwhile, Don Younger finished fourth in the men's 100-metre breaststroke heats, while Samuel Yalimaiwai placed fifth.

In boxing, Team Fiji's Ben Maukakala lost to New Zealand's Connor Campbell in the men's 65kg preliminary bout.

In basketball, Fiji's women's 3x3 team went down 16–14 to Kenya.

Coming up today, Fiji's men's 3x3 basketball team will take on Malaysia at 9pm.

In swimming, Tolu Young will compete in the men's 50-metre freestyle heats, while Kelera Mudunakaso will contest the women's 100-metre breaststroke heats. The swimming session begins at 9.30pm.

In boxing, Jone Davule will compete in the men's 60kg division, while Aminiasi Saratibau will feature in the men's 80kg division. The boxing programme gets underway at 10pm.
