FCCC urges families to prioritise food and fireworks safety this Diwali

As Fiji celebrates Diwali today, the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission is urging families to prioritise safety around fireworks and open flames while reminding shoppers to check food expiry dates and prices.

In its Diwali message, FCCC says families should enjoy the Festival of Lights while taking precautions to protect their loved ones.

The Commission is reminding shoppers to check food expiry dates and packaging before purchasing items during the festive period.

FCCC is also encouraging consumers to check their receipts to ensure they are being charged the correct prices.

Meanwhile, the Commission is urging families to exercise extra caution when handling fireworks, diyas and candles amid ongoing dry conditions.

FCCC says parents and guardians must closely supervise children around fireworks and open flames and ensure they watch fireworks displays from a safe distance.

The Commission says Diwali is a time for families to come together and show kindness, fairness and respect for one another.

FCCC is encouraging everyone to celebrate responsibly, look after their neighbours and make safety a priority.

The Commission has also extended its Diwali greetings to families across Fiji and around the world, wishing everyone peace, good health and prosperity.
