The University of Fiji says its increased government funding will help improve services for students after years of operating on a tight budget.
Vice Chancellor Professor Shaista Shameem says the University's operational grant has almost doubled compared to last year.
She says the increased funding recognises the University's contribution to higher education after years of operating on a tight budget.
Professor Shameem says despite financial challenges, the University has continued to provide quality education while maintaining its operations.
She says the funding increase comes at a special time, as the University recently celebrated its 21st anniversary.
The Vice Chancellor says the University is now looking at how best to use the additional funding to improve services and ensure students benefit the most.
