The Fiji Bula Boys have won the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup 2026 after defeating defending champions Vanuatu 1-0 in the final at the HFC Bank Stadium.
Thomas Dunn fired Fiji ahead in the 10th minute, sending the home crowd into celebration.
Fiji took the 1-0 lead into half-time before holding off Vanuatu in the second half to seal the victory and lift the title on home soil.
Meanwhile, Fiji captain Roy Krishna says the Bula Boys were determined to win the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup on home soil after working hard for the opportunity to lift a trophy in front of their home fans.
He also thanked the fans for their support during the tournament and urged them to continue backing the young Fiji team.
He also dedicated the win to the team, his teammate Tevita Warainivalu for his hard work and coach Stephane Auvray.
Fiji Bula Boys coach Stephane Auvray says the team had to change its game plan and become more compact defensively to protect their 1-0 lead against Vanuatu in the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup final.
Auvray says Fiji initially tried to play according to their first-half plan, but when they realised it was not working, they switched three players in midfield to become more compact and solid.
He says Fiji could have done better with the chances they created but was pleased the team managed to hold on and secure the victory.
Krishna says the victory is only the beginning for the team and believes the side has a big future under the current coaching setup.
He says the team is young and will need time to develop, but continued support from the fans will be important.
The victory was also sweet revenge for the Bula Boys after Vanuatu defeated Fiji 1-0 during the round-robin stage of this year’s tournament.
