Vakadewabuka family celebrates Venina’s MBA graduation
A proud and joyous chapter has been celebrated in the Vakadewabuka family today as the mother of the house, Venina Yabia Vakadewabuka, proudly graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of the South Pacific.

Her husband and former Retired Lieutenant Colonel and Counselor and Military Attache’ at Fiji’s New York Mission Neumi Vakadewabuka says his wife is affectionately celebrated as the Queen of their family and has spent much of her life putting others first.

He says during her family’s postings in Australia and New York, she made significant sacrifices to her own career and education to support the family and ensure that everyone around her could pursue their own responsibilities and ambitions.

He says today that sacrifice has been rewarded with a remarkable academic achievement.

Their four children expressed immense pride in her accomplishment.

As a military officer, Vakadewabuka has broken barriers, set standards, and demonstrated leadership throughout her professional career.

Her commitment to excellence has also extended into her academic life, where she served as President of the USP MBA Students, providing leadership and representing her fellow students with grace, vision and purpose.

She has played important roles within her extended family, the ACSOG Class of 2003, her children’s classroom activities, Fiji Netball, Northland Rugby Union, and initiatives supporting women in Defence.

Her husband shared with fijivillage news that at home, she has also been a constant source of strength and support, particularly as he travels extensively for work and participates in commitments involving Northland Rugby Union and the Marist Old Boys Association.

Her ability to carry these responsibilities while undertaking demanding MBA studies has been described by her family as nothing short of heroic.

Her story is also an inspiration to women and young mothers who may wonder whether it is possible to pursue their dreams while carrying the responsibilities of family, career and community.
