It was a proud and historic celebration in Seaqaqa Town today as the Seaqaqa football team paraded through the town with their trophy, joined by officials and supporters celebrating the team’s promotion to the Super Premier Division for the first time in 40 years.
Players and officials took part in a float procession through Seaqaqa as supporters came out to celebrate an achievement four decades in the making.
Seaqaqa Football Association President Lakan Kumar says the team worked extremely hard throughout the season to finally secure promotion after 40 years.
Kumar thanked the supporters, students and people of Seaqaqa who came out in numbers to support the team throughout their campaign and during today’s celebrations.
He also acknowledged coach Mohammed Imran for his hard work and commitment throughout the season, saying he is extremely proud and happy with the team’s performance.
The celebrations will continue this evening with a presentation night at Seaqaqa Indian Primary School to recognise and thank the players and coach for their efforts.
Kumar says the former President and the Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere will be the chief guests at the event.
