Fiji Pearls miss out on the World Cup

Heartbreak for the Crest Fiji Pearls, who have been knocked out of the race for the Netball World Cup after losing two games and winning one at the Netball World Cup Qualifiers in Tonga.
Speaking to fijivillage News today, Fiji Netball Chairperson Vasiti Vugakoto says Fiji fought hard throughout the competition, but its campaign has now ended.
Vugakoto says the players should hold their heads high and continue to trust the process.She says the Pearls had only four weeks to prepare for the qualifying campaign but still put up a strong performance against Tonga, which is ranked seventh in the world.Vugakoto  says the team would now return to the drawing board, with the focus on working hard and preparing for the next qualifier in 2028.
She encouraged the players to keep training and remain positive, stressing that the setback is not the end of the road for the team.
Vugakoto also says Fiji Netball would write to the organisers to review Fiji’s performance in Tonga and determine whether there is still a possibility of the Pearls taking part in the Netball World Cup.
Meanwhile, Tonga and Samoa have secured their places at the World Cup.
