Players to be investigated after referee assault - FRU
The Tavua Rugby player who hit the referee from a blind spot will be investigated and taken to task.

This has been confirmed by the Fiji Rugby Union.

The match between Rewa and Tavua in the Fiji Rugby Union Elimination Round Clash was abandoned after an incident in which a player struck the referee from behind while disputing a decision made during the game.

The situation quickly escalated, creating tension among players and supporters, prompting intervention from Fiji Police before the match was officially called off.

In response, the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) has confirmed it will conduct a full investigation into the incident.

FRU says that both the players involved and the respective rugby union will be held accountable.

With Fiji preparing for the Nations Championship and its move to Tier One status, FRU emphasized that such behaviour from players and unions will not be tolerated.

FRU also confirmed to fijivillage News that investigations into the players and the union are underway.
