The identities of two Fiji nationals charged in connection with the importation of 17 million New Zealand dollars worth of methamphetamine into Tauranga in New Zealand have now been revealed.
They are 30-year-old Noa Grantham Turuva Kunaqoro who is an ordinary seaman and 32-year-old Taniela Delaisavui Molidegei, who is an able seaman.
The two men are charged with importing the Class A drug into New Zealand.
The NZ Herald reports court documents to reveal the pair are charged with importing the drug on board the container ship Southern Moana, which New Zealand Customs confirmed arrived at the Port of Tauranga from Fiji on Wednesday.
The charges carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
New Zealand Customs said the 34kg of methamphetamine seized is worth up to $17m.
The two men have been remanded in custody.
