Junior Bula Boys head coach Sunil Kumar says his side is taking one step at a time approach as they prepare for the OFC U-16 Men's Championship semifinal after finishing the group stage strongly.
Kumar says his players have continued to grow in confidence with each match, but believes there is still plenty of room for improvement.
He says the young squad can sometimes get carried away by the atmosphere and emotions of the tournament, and they still need to improve their ball possession and overall performance.
Despite that, Kumar says the boys have shown great character throughout the group stage, where they won all three matches to book a place in the semifinals.
He says the coaching staff will now assess injuries, analyse their performances from the three pool matches and prepare the team for the semifinal.
Fiji will play Solomon Islands in the semi-final tomorrow at the PNG Football Stadium at 6pm, while New Zealand will face PNG in the other semi-final at 9.30pm.
The final will be played at 9.30pm this Saturday.
The winner and runner-up will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2027.
