CWM Hospital to increase backup water storage following supply disruption
Following the water disruption at CWM Hospital yesterday, which left the hospital's backup tank dry, the hospital is working to increase the capacity of the backup tank at the East Wing to reduce the risk of water shortages during El Niño.

While responding to questions by fijivillage News, Hospital Medical Superintendent Doctor Luke Nasedra says the West Wing and Maternity Unit, which are normally affected by water disruptions, will also have a new backup tank with a capacity of 200,000 litres.

He confirms the water supply has normalized again at CWM Hospital since last night.

He says water trucks were filling the backup tank at the East Wing along Extension Street at around 4.45pm yesterday, the only area affected by the WAF pipe damage at the end of the street.

Dr Nasedra also confirms that the East Wing backup water tank has a capacity of 60,000 litres.

He says the tank was refilled last night and is back in operation.

The Medical Superintendent says when water supply is disrupted like yesterday, the backup tank can sustain the service for 8 to 12 hours, depending on the time of the day.
