The Shogun 7s team will make their tournament debut at the 15th edition of the McDonald's Coral Coast Fiji 7s, which will take place from 14th to 16th January 2027 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
The inclusion of Shogun 7s adds another exciting dimension to an already formidable international line-up, as the tournament continues to attract invitational teams eager to test themselves against some of the finest rugby sevens talent from Fiji and around the world.
With the 2027 tournament carrying the theme "Feel the Passion Ignite", Shogun 7s will arrive in Sigatoka ready to embrace the intensity, physicality and atmosphere that have made the Coral Coast Fiji 7s one of the world's most respected invitational sevens tournaments.
Tournament Chairman Jay Whyte has welcomed the team's participation, acknowledging the enthusiasm and commitment shown by Shogun 7s in accepting the invitation to compete in Fiji.
Whyte says the organisers are thrilled to welcome Shogun 7s to the McDonald's Coral Coast Fiji 7s for the first time.
He says the tournament has always been about bringing together outstanding rugby talent, creating new opportunities and showcasing the best of international invitational sevens.
Whyte says every year, organisers work hard to assemble a field that excites supporters and challenges every team that steps onto the turf at Lawaqa Park.
He adds that the inclusion of Shogun 7s is another example of the international appeal the tournament continues to generate.
Whyte says one thing they can guarantee is that there are no easy games in Sigatoka.
He says the standard of competition is exceptional, the Fijian teams are fiercely competitive, and the atmosphere created by Fiji's passionate rugby supporters is unlike anything else in the world.
The Chairman says Shogun 7s are coming to Fiji to make their mark, and the organisers cannot wait to welcome them to the rugby town of Sigatoka.
Whyte has also extended his appreciation to Terry Sands for accepting the tournament's invitation and helping bring Shogun 7s to Fiji for the 2027 event.
He says they are particularly grateful to Terry Sands for embracing their vision and accepting the invitation to participate.
Whyte says it is through relationships and the willingness of people like Terry Sands to support international rugby opportunities that the tournament continues to grow from strength to strength.
He says the arrival of Shogun 7s further reinforces the tournament's growing international reputation, with teams from across the globe preparing to arrive on Fiji's Coral Coast for three days of rugby, friendship and fierce competition.
The men's competition will once again feature the coveted i-Wau Trophy, with a $50,000 first prize awaiting the champions.
Beyond the rugby, the McDonald's Coral Coast Fiji 7s has become a celebration of Fiji's sporting culture, renowned hospitality and the passion that makes rugby sevens such an important part of the nation's identity.
As the tournament celebrates its 15th edition, organisers remain committed to ensuring that the event is accessible to everyone, with free admission across all three days.
