Sekoula Disomilo’s Christmas has been made brighter thanks to her pineapple farm, which helped her to buy items for the celebration and contribute to her six children’s education.
Hailing from Nakavika in Seaqaqa, Disomilo shared that she plants and harvests pineapples with her children, making it a family effort that adds to the festive spirit.
The 43-year-old says that currently, the family has between 2,000 and 3,000 pineapple plants on their farm.
With three children still in school and three having completed their studies, Disomilo takes pride in the hard work that supports her family’s well-being, especially during the Christmas season.
Despite the joy of providing for her family, she highlighted challenges such as poor road conditions, particularly on rainy days, which make transporting pineapples to the market difficult.
She added that hiring vehicles is also expensive due to the state of the roads.
Disomilo is urging the government to improve road infrastructure for farmers in the Northern Division, noting that better roads would not only ease transport but also brighten the livelihoods of farmers like her, bringing even more festive cheer to their homes.
