More than two thousand plants believed to be marijuana was seized by the Northern Division Operations team in the Vatuyalewa mountain range.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Kasiano Vusonilawe said the team also uprooted more than 200 green plants believed to be marijuana from the Nasea farming area in Tukavesi.

ACP Vusonilawe said the modus operandi of cultivators has changed, however, enhanced sharing of information and the use of drones has assisted with locating the farms in difficult terrains.

ACP Vusonilawe says operations remains committed to getting to the source of both green and white drugs with multiple arrests made this past week in all five policing divisions, for cases of unlawful possession of illicit drugs with the Joint Task Force supported by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

Members of the public are encouraged to report drug related activities by calling -1681.
