Fiji athletes hunt more medals at Oceania meet

Suva Grammar School student sensation Farhaaan Ali will look to continue his impressive form at the Darwin Oceania  Athletics Championships when he competes in the Under-20 Boys’ Discus Throw later today.

Ali claimed gold in the Hammer Throw with a personal best of 34.42 metres, and also secured silver in the shot put final's yesterday.

The Grammar student is now aiming to add a second gold medal to his campaign.

Meanwhile, Veniana Ranadi, who won gold in the Under-16 100 metres, will also be chasing her second gold medal of the competition in the under 16 long jump.

On the track, Adi Ceva Lutumailagi, silver medallist in the Under-20 Women’s 800 metres, is set to compete in tonight’s 400 metres final.

Elijah Vakacegu will be aiming for his second gold medal after winning the Under-16 Boys’ 800 metres final.

He will line up alongside fellow teammate Kirikiti Biu in the 200 metres final.

Ali’s Discus Throw event is scheduled for 6:45pm, Ranadi’s event begins at 4pm, while Vakacegu and Biu will compete in the 200 metres final at 9:05pm tonight.
