To recognise the importance of effective communication in maintaining positive working skills, workers need to prioritise formalising written communication to seek clarity and transparency in employer to employee dealings.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Agni Deo Singh after receiving feedback from the Fijian workers on the non-formalisation of employment issues by employers to the Fijian workers.

He says written communication is an evidence-based and transparent mechanism to ensure that the welfare of the workers is protected and has seamless interaction with employers which will minimise misunderstanding, establish stronger trust with the employer, and protect both the interest of the worker and the employer.

Singh says this will provide a documented record of discussions, references, and agreements, reducing the risks associated with misunderstanding.

The Minister says Australian Employment laws equally apply to everyone.

He says the exhaust grievance procedures shared during the pre-departure briefing does not disengage under the worker's contractual agreement and visa arrangement.

Singh further emphasised that re-engagement under the scheme is determined by the individual workers' performance and working relationships with the employer.

The ministerial team held discussions with workers deployed to Narogin, Katanning, South South West, and Busselton in Perth, Western Australia.
