When making advertising decisions, support local media first.

Communications Fiji Limited Chairman, William Parkinson highlighted this while while opening the Build, Buzz and Big Impact - Marketing AI Workshop with Steve and Catherine Toms to educate CFL’s clients on the latest digital media and AI based marketing trends.

This client AI workshop is the first of many things planned over the next three days for CFL’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

CFL is the parent company of LegendFM, FM96, VITIFM, Navtarang, Radio Sargam and fijivillage.

Parkinson told the advertisers today that he understands that Google AdSense will offer opportunities and various other things, but stressed to the clients to support their local media first, particularly those that are actively operating in the digital space.

He says many of the organisations have been with CFL right from the beginning on July 5th 1985, but as part of the 40th celebration, while parties is one thing, CFL wants to give the clients something solid that they can take away and use to build their own organisations, hopefully in partnership with CFL.

The CFL Chair says people may notice that CFL as an organisation is very different from what it was even 10 years ago, and we have been active in this transition into this digital space.

He says it is a challenging transition for most traditional media organisations, like newspaper, radio, and TV.

He says that is in our DNA, and number two, transitioning to a digital platform, we can do it quite easily as it allows us to add the pictures to the story as well.

The Chair adds being able to transition to digital platforms is something which comes quite naturally for us which started with the launch of fijivillage in 1997.

He says our digital story goes back quite a way and in more recent times, we have added social media to that and are now the number one social media influencer platform in the country by quite a large stretch.

The clients workshop will be followed by a clients cocktail tonight from 6pm to 10pm at the home of CFL at 231 Waimanu Rd.

Tomorrow selected staff will have a seminar with our overseas consultants followed by a heartfelt evening dedicated to former CFL team members who helped shape our legacy from 6pm to 10pm.

The CFL Gratitude Concert on Saturday will be from 4pm to 11pm with artists like Seru Serevi, Laisa Vulakoro, Saimoni Vuatalevu, Big Wilz, Steve Macomber, Kuki, Georgina Ledua, Rosi Loa, Tom Mawi, Vegas 6, Marama, The Gang, Nicky and Ouvacast ft. Billy T, Ciwa Music – Ratu, Kaliti, Asinate and Oni as well as entertainment from the VOU Dance Company and the Bollywood Dhamaka Show from the Navtarang and Radio Sargam team and Ronald Jai.
