Fijian Drua Women’s flanker, Sulita Waisega

Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s flanker, Sulita Waisega is eager to play against the Waratahs in their first home-game in the Super Rugby Women’s competition later today.

While speaking in the latest episode of Drua Village on our website, fijivillage, Waisega says being part of the training squad in the last four weeks has not posed many difficulties for her, as the girls have built strong relationships within the team, which was reflected in their win last week.

She says camping in the Drua Franchise setup is easier for them because they have their training sessions twice a day and camp together for the whole season, which builds strong bonds within the team.

The 20-year-old started playing rugby when she was a young girl and then joined the Haagsche Rugby Club in Netherlands, before joining the Drua Women’s side last year.

Waisega hails from Nakawaga Village in Macuata and shares maternal links to Nakama Village, also in Macuata.

She attended a primary school in the Netherlands and moved to Segbroek College for her secondary education.

Her message to the supporters is to come out in numbers and support the team for today’s game.

Meanwhile, Waisega was awarded the Top Tackler for the Drua vs Reds game last week, with 11 tackles.

The Drua Women will meet the Waratahs at 3:45pm today, while the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will play the Waratahs at 1:05pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
