The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is issuing a strong warning to the public regarding a scam text message currently being circulated.
LTA says the fraudulent message claims to be a Traffic Infringement Notice (TIN), providing a notice number and a suspicious URL link.
They say recipients are prompted to pay $100 within 48 hours via this link; however, the LTA wishes to clarify that this message is not legitimate.
They also say the Authority does not send TINs via unofficial links, and any such communication should be treated as a scam.
LTA is urging members of the public to refrain from clicking, replying, or engaging with the message or link, exercise caution when receiving unsolicited texts, particularly those requesting immediate payment, and verify all information directly with LTA through official channels.
The Authority is taking this matter seriously and will be reporting the incident to the Fiji Police Force Cyber Crime Unit for investigation.
They also urge members of the public to remain vigilant and exercise sound judgment when confronted with suspicious communications or requests for suspicious payments.
LTA says protecting the safety and security of its customers remains a priority.
