Deputy Prime Minister, Manoa Kamikamica

There are reports coming in that Deputy Prime Minister, Manoa Kamikamica's mobile phone was seized by FICAC.

We are receiving reports from various sources that the seizure took place as part of a search warrant yesterday afternoon.

We sent questions to FICAC last night however they have not responded as yet.

It is understood that Kamikamica’s phone was taken in as part of the investigation regarding the Commission of Inquiry report into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner.

Kamikamica had earlier stressed that the appointment of Malimali as FICAC Commissioner was solely the decision of the Judicial Services Commission and not Cabinet.

Kamikamica had confirmed no specific Cabinet meeting was held for the appointment of Malimali when he was Acting Prime Minister.
