Naidu says no, it’s not a crime for Seruiratu to criticise the Government over the COI report

Prominent lawyer, Richard Naidu has come out and said that no, it’s not a crime for the Leader of the Opposition, Inia Seruiratu to criticise the Government over the Commission of Inquiry report into the appointment of BarbaraMalimali as FICAC Commissioner.

Naidu says in his facebook post that Seruiratu can do this even while the report is under multiple legal attacks.

He says it’s not “interference” and it’s not “perverting the course of justice.”

He says using bogus legal threats to silence critics was what the last government did.

Naidu stresses we are not going back to that.

The lawyers for the Judicial Services Commission and Acting Attorney General, Siromi Turaga had attacked Seruiratu earlier this week that he cannot criticize the report and the Prime Minister not acting based on the report as judicial review applications are currently before the court.
