FIJI Water says they had a limited recall of their product several months ago that affected just one customer and has been long resolved—and never posed any health or safety risk.

While responding to concerns raised by the Fiji Labour Party Leader, Mahendra Chaudhry on why no public statement was made and the safety of the water from that recalled batch, FIJI Water says the affected products were immediately and voluntarily recalled, with 99 percent of affected bottles reclaimed from warehouses.

FIJI Water says all consumers who might have received the impacted product were directly notified back in March and the company conducted evaluations of the levels of manganese, which is a naturally occurring mineral, and any bacteria.

The company has told fijivillage News that those evaluations further confirmed that consumers could be fully confident of no health or safety risk.

FIJI Water says it upholds strict quality standards and they conducted this limited recall consistent with that commitment to maintaining the highest priority around the safety and quality of their product.

They stress there is currently no issue of concern with FIJI Water.

Newsweek reports that in March, the FDA announced a recall of over 70,000 cases of Fiji Natural Artesian Water bottles which equated to about 1.9 million bottles over concerns that they contained high levels of manganese and three types of bacteria.

The FDA has since lowered the classification of the water bottle recall to one that is "not likely to cause adverse health consequences."

FIJI Water had said at the time that it is also important to note that there is no risk of high manganese exposure from the levels of manganese in FIJI Water.

The company told Newsweek that they had conducted numerous tests and analysis on this, and consumers can be assured that there is no health or safety risk with FIJI Water.

They added that they voluntarily recalled the product out of an abundance of caution.

The brand stressed that FIJI Water remains safe to buy and consume.

They said this is a quality issue only affecting the specific lots sold on Amazon.com between February 1st 2024 and March 3rd 2024 with production dates of November 11th 2023, November 12th 2023, November 13th 2023, November 24th 2023, and November 25th 2023.
