Fiji one step closer to quarter-finals after 17-12 win over Georgia

Fiji are one step closer to the quarter finals after holding out a determined Georgian side 17-12 in their third RWC pool game.

The Fiji Water Flying Fijians did not look as composed as they did against the Wallabies as the Georgian defence rattled them making them give away penalties on which Georgia capitalised on.

Luka Matkava and Davit Niniashvili put Georgia ahead as they led 9-0 at half-time.

The Flying Fijians did not look good off the kicking tee as Simione Kuruvoli and Frank Lomani missed a few kicks each while Fiji also lost 5 of their own line outs.

Levani Botia and Josua Tuisova were ferocious at the breakdown as they won a few turnovers that gave Fiji the front foot.

Waisea Nayacalevu dotted down for Fiji’s first try in the 51st minute with Lomani converting.

Man of the Match Levani Botia set up the second try after he drew in 4 defenders before flicking a pass off to Vinaya Habosi to run through unopposed.

Fiji also received 2 Yellow Cards to Semi Radradra and Josua Tuisova in the 41st minute and 79th.

The Wallabies will be hoping to win their game against Portugal at 3.45am tomorrow with a bonus point and hope that Fiji loses to Portugal without a bonus point for them to make it to the quarter-finals.
