Bringing bands like UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and Katchafire to Fiji has had its challenges, but the community spirit and the drive of the people to make this happen has made it an easy one.

Homecoming Festival Organiser, Moe Coffey who is also responsible for bringing the bands over highlighted this to fijivillage News at King Charles Park.

Coffey says he reached out to New Zealand reggae royalty, Katchafire and asked them if they would be keen to come to Fiji and do a show for the people, and they jumped at the chance and were very keen, so here they are.

When asked if there is a market for more concerts and bands like this in Fiji, Coffey agreed saying there definitely is a market.

Coffey says after seeing the videos that came out of Tonga, ticket sales continue to move, so people are definitely keen.

He says his inbox has been going nuts ever since the show got announced, so the market is definitely here.

The event organiser says they have already done two Homecoming concerts already and arguably those two were much more difficult given the volume of artists that were travelling into the country and the logistics of that was extremely challenging.

He says with only two international bands flying in, that's definitely lessened the load.

Coffey says those Homecoming festivals laid the foundation to be able to do this sort of concerts.

When asked if he will be bringing more bands to Fiji, Coffey says it is the hottest question in town at the moment.

His answer to that is they are going to get through this one and then do a review and see whether it was worth all of the effort and what type of bands they can bring.

The concert will be held from 2pm to 10pm at King Charles Park.
