Excitement is building in the North as preparations have been completed for the 2026 FMF Duavata Carnival, which begins tomorrow and will run until next Saturday at Subrail Park.
Carnival Chairman Satish Kumar says this year's event will feature a fresh new look and exciting attractions, offering a unique experience for families and visitors from across the Northern Division.
Kumar says 24 contestants will compete for this year's carnival titles, while all stages and stalls have been fully prepared ahead of the official opening.
He says each evening will have a different theme, with entertainment, cultural performances and activities for people of all ages throughout the eight-day carnival.
Kumar adds that the much-anticipated float procession will take place this Saturday on a much larger scale, promising a colourful spectacle through the streets of Labasa.
He says the carnival will also continue its tradition of giving back to the community, with funds raised to be used to provide a police caravan and a classroom Valelawa Primary School in Macuata.
