It is a joyful day for Draiba Primary School in Nasese, its students, teachers and the wider community following the official commissioning of a new multi-purpose hall worth more than $58,000. The new facility will support learning, sporting activities and community events for years to come.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka commissioned the hall this morning, describing the project as an investment in the future of Fiji's children and a reflection of the Government's commitment to providing safe, modern and quality learning environments for students across the country.
The hall, constructed at a cost of $58,048.66, was jointly funded through the Office of the Prime Minister's Small Grant Scheme and the local community, highlighting the spirit of solesolevaki—working together for the common good.
Rabuka says the project is more than just a new building.
He says buildings alone do not transform nations; they become transformational when children are enabled to acquire knowledge, develop character, strengthen leadership, embrace innovation and pursue excellence.
He says every child, regardless of whether they live in an urban, rural or maritime community, deserves access to a safe, modern and quality learning environment that supports their future potential.
The new hall will benefit the school's 704 student by providing a venue for assemblies, indoor sporting activities, cultural programmes, awareness campaigns, educational events and community gatherings.
