MP Sanjay Kirpal and Anal Ram granted bail over alleged assault
Member of Parliament Sanjay Salend Kirpal and Anal Avinash Ram have been granted bail in relation to an alleged assault that occurred last Sunday.

They appeared before Suva Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne this afternoon.

Police Prosecutor Shailen Prasad informed the court that there is no domestic relationship between the accused and the victim.

Prasad says there are no previous convictions.

Defence lawyer Mukesh Nand informed the court that his clients are ready to reconcile.

Magistrate Somaratne granted bail without requiring any sureties but stressed that they must not reoffend.

Both are alleged to have assaulted the victim following an argument at Kirpal’s home.

The matter has been adjourned to August 28th to check on reconciliation.

Magistrate Somaratne reminded the parties that if reconciliation does not occur, plea will be taken.
