Seven decades of friendships and sisterhood were celebrated as former students of Saint Joseph’s Secondary School came together for a Thanksgiving Mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva yesterday, marking the end of the school’s week-long 70th anniversary celebrations
Former students from different generations and parts of the world returned to Suva to reconnect with old friends, share memories and celebrate the bonds formed during their years at the Waimanu Road school.
During the Mass, the women were reminded that the education and talents they have received are gifts that also carry a responsibility to help others.
They were also encouraged to continue strengthening their veiwekani, or relationships and connections, beyond the anniversary celebrations.
The week also provided moments of prayer and reflection while giving former students an opportunity to remember their school years and renew friendships that have endured through different stages of their lives.
Organisers say the anniversary celebrations may have ended, but the friendships, connections and sisterhood built through St Joseph’s Secondary School will continue for generations.
