Injured teenage forward, Lamine Yamal has been included in Spain’s 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup despite missing the final month of the season with a hamstring injury.
The 18-year-old suffered a torn left hamstring while playing for FC Barcelona on the 22nd April but has still been selected by coach Luis de la Fuente.
For the first time, no players from Real Madrid have been named in Spain’s World Cup squad, with defenders Dean Huijsen and Dani Carvajal missing out.
De la Fuente says he does not focus on selecting players from particular clubs.
The coach says he does not have any local bias and only wants players who feel proud to represent Spain.
Real Madrid failed to win a trophy this season and finished eight points behind La Liga champions Barcelona.
Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao has also been included despite dealing with a hamstring issue.
The World Cup will run from the 11th of June to the 19th July.
