A community-led Hope Festival in Sigatoka has brought people together with a strong message against drug abuse, particularly among young people.
The festival, held at Navilawa Park, was initiated by Ana Masere as part of an effort to unite the community in the fight against drugs.
Masere says the Hope Festival is about bringing people together as “one community and one voice against drugs.”
She says the initiative aims to encourage communities to stand together and take action against drug abuse.
Masere says addressing drug use among young people is important as concerns over drug use among youths continue to grow.
She says the festival provides a platform to advocate for the eradication of drugs from communities, while thanking the Sigatoka community, God and the Centre of Hope for supporting the event.
Masere hopes the festival will leave people with a message of unity, love and hope.
She says young people should be encouraged to build opportunities for themselves, look towards the future and believe that there is something better ahead.
Her message to the community is simple — say no to drugs and yes to life.
