The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side has begun preparations for the upcoming 2026/2027 HSBC SVNS World Series, which will kick off with the Dubai 7s in November.
Coach Osea Kolinisau conducted the team’s first trials at Bidesi Ground, with several Under-18 players also taking part.
Kolinisau acknowledged the enthusiasm shown by the young players as they develop their rugby careers and look ahead to joining the HPU Academy.
He says they currently have a 70-member squad, which they will reduce to 35 players before beginning the second phase of preparations.
He adds that most of the players are currently competing in the Skipper Cup, and the coaching staff will continue to monitor their performances.
The Dubai 7s will kick off the series on November 28th and 29th, followed by the Cape Town 7s on December 5th and 6th.
The Singapore 7s will be held on January 30th and 31st, 2027, followed by the Perth 7s on February 6th and 7th, the Vancouver 7s on March 6th and 7th, and the New York 7s on March 13th and 14th.
The SVNS World Championship will begin with the Hong Kong 7s from April 9th to 11th, followed by the Valladolid 7s from May 21st to 23rd, before concluding in Bordeaux from May 28th to 30th.
The Fiji Men’s 7s team finished second in the 2025/2026 SVNS World Series and sixth in the SVNS World Championship.
