The Water Authority of Fiji says repair works are continuing on the major 375mm water main burst at Tamavua-i-Wai, stating that it will take time to restore water supply as the damaged pipeline is one of the main transmission lines supplying the area.
Speaking to fijivillage News, WAF says teams are still working to expose and repair the damaged section of the pipeline before they can determine when water supply will be restored.
The Authority says water trucks are currently supplying affected communities to help meet essential needs while repairs continue.
Areas receiving water carting include Delainavesi, Nadonumai, Vugalei, Suvavou, Lami Town to Veisari, and Togalevu.
The burst, which was discovered at around 5am today near Delainavesi Bridge, has left thousands of residents without water after supply had to be shut off to allow repair works.
WAF is again urging residents to use water sparingly where available and apologises for the ongoing inconvenience as crews work to restore normal supply as quickly as possible.
