Brad Arnold, the lead singer and songwriter of 3 Doors Down has died at 47 after battling stage 4 clear cell renal carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer that had spread to his lung.

The band confirmed his death in a statement, saying he would be 'deeply missed and forever remembered'.

Arnold revealed his diagnosis in May 2025, saying he was not afraid but disappointed the band had to cancel a tour.

He asked fans for prayers during his illness.

A founding member of the Mississippi-formed rock band, Arnold helped shape their early 2000s success with hits like Kryptonite, Here Without You, When I’m Gone, and Loser.

He wrote Kryptonite at just 15 years old.

The band won three Billboard Music Awards, and their debut album The Better Life was among the top-selling albums in the US.

Arnold was open about his past struggle with alcoholism and had been sober since 2016.

Beyond music, he helped establish the Better Life Foundation in 2004 to support children in need.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer.
