Total Eclipse of the Heart’ singer Bonnie Tyler dies at 75
Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, best known for the global hits Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding Out for a Hero, has died at the age of 75.

Her family confirmed that Tyler died unexpectedly at a hospital in Portugal while being treated for an illness.

Tyler had faced serious health problems in recent months after undergoing emergency surgery for a perforated intestine and spending time in a medically induced coma.

Her family had earlier said she remained very unwell, while her concerts through August had been cancelled.

Tyler rose to international fame in the 1980s, with Total Eclipse of the Heart becoming one of her biggest and most recognised songs.

She later achieved further success with Holding Out for a Hero, which featured on the Footloose soundtrack.

Tyler was known worldwide for her distinctive husky voice and remained one of Wales’ best-known singers.
