Four people from Waikerekere Village in Veisari are missing at sea after they failed to return from a fishing trip in the Waiqanake coastal area yesterday afternoon.
Police say 19-year-old Semesa Ravudi, 23-year-old Henry Hiramatsu, 24-year-old Tomasi Koroivosa and 30-year-old Alifereti Kubunavanua left in a 12-foot white fibreglass boat equipped with a paddle and a push pole.
Police say the men had no means of communication, and checks carried out by villagers along the coastal areas proved futile.
They are urging mariners to keep a lookout and report any sightings to the Police Command and Coordination Centre on 9905296 or 3318528.
