Australian PM Albanese arrives in Fiji to strengthen Vuvale Partnership

Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese is in Fiji for an official visit as the two countries continue to strengthen the Fiji–Australia Vuvale Partnership.

Albanese was received at Nausori Airport by Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka and Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Sakiasi Ditoka.

He was also accorded a 50-member Guard of Honour by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong is also accompanying Albanese on the visit.

During his visit, Albanese will undertake a number of official engagements, including a traditional ceremony of welcome, bilateral meetings and a courtesy call on the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.

The visit reflects the strong bonds of friendship between Fiji and Australia and further reinforces both countries’ commitment to the Vuvale Partnership, which is built on mutual respect, cooperation and shared regional priorities.

The Government will also accord Albanese a traditional ceremony of welcome today, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka leading the Fiji delegation at the ceremony.
