Greenhouse Coworking, Fiji’s first full-service virtual and in-person coworking community has successfully hosted its first Speed Networking event in Suva in a bid to connect professionals in their community.

The event which is supported by the Australian Government’s Market Development Facility, provided a platform for professionals, especially micro, small and medium entrepreneurs to meet new contacts and was an opportunity for non-members to meet existing members, coaches and mentors.

The organisation says the event attracted 48 registered participants from diverse industries such as tourism, education, agriculture, accounting, law and creative arts last Friday and was a resounding success.

They say participants engaged in a series of brief, one-on-one meetings, allowing them to make impactful connections and learn about the coworking community and space, within a short time.

Finding Islands Tours Founder and Director, Silina Bale says she have always been interested in Greenhouse Coworking as she loves the idea of flexibility, working anywhere with your laptop with your coffee, and the fact that they meet people from different backgrounds; whom they can bounce ideas and generate even more creative ideas.

Bale says it is a great space to network some things she never thought of or crossed her mind and it made her really think deeper about her business and how to move it forward.

The event also included a presentation by experienced communicator and certified leadership coach Ana Laqeretabua, who shared tips and insights on how to stand out during networking events, build strong professional relationships and maximise opportunities by being part of existing business communities.

Founder and Director, Ronna Sekiguchi says they are thrilled with the turnout and positive energy during the event.

She says most people are not comfortable with the idea of networking, so organising intentional events like this with actual help to generate meaningful conversations and connections was inspiring because they saw so many people come together to connect, learn and support one another.

Sekiguchi says the success of the Speed Networking event reaffirms to them the value of creating spaces and communities like GCo for their local entrepreneurs and professionals.

She adds they have an understanding of what they want to do but you leave with a different perspective because you meet so many people and you hear so many stories so you build a connection with them too.

GCo is committed to organising similar networking events on a regular basis to help grow their coworking community and is also excited to announce its upcoming “Green Business Bootcamp”, scheduled to take place from Thursday 14th March to Saturday 16th March.

The bootcamp supports GCo’s vision of fostering a learning environment and business growth for MSMEs, especially in the “green business space”.
